Shyam Marbles & Sanitary

Shyam Marbles & Sanitary is right on M. G. Road, which is basically the main hub of the area. Because we’re on such a busy street, there’s never really a quiet moment. We’ve got all sorts of marble slabs leaned up against the walls and stacks of sinks and toilets sitting around the shop floor. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes, especially when a new shipment arrives and we have to find space for it. I usually spend my time talking to contractors or homeowners who are trying to pick out something for their renovation project. It’s not a fancy showroom with bright lights and music; it’s more of a practical place where you can see the actual stone. The floors are always a bit dusty because of the cutting we do, and the smell of wet stone is pretty constant. We don’t really use any big marketing tricks or anything. We just show people what we have in stock. Some of the marble comes from pretty far away, and it’s always a relief when it arrives without any cracks or chips. We’ve been on M. G. Road for a long time, and we know most of the other shopkeepers around here. It’s a decent living, even if it means lifting heavy things and dealing with the traffic outside all day. We just try to keep the inventory moving and help people find what they need for their houses without making things too complicated.
