Shri Chetan Yadav Memorial Farmer

Shri Chetan Yadav Memorial Farmer is based in Village Joratarainaraynpur, which is out in the Kunkuri area of Jashpur. You can find us at Ganesh Ram Yadav’s place. It is a quiet village for the most part, except during the planting and harvest seasons when everyone is out in the fields. We started this to keep the memory of Chetan Yadav alive through the work we do with the land. Jashpur has a certain way about it, with the hills and the weather that can be quite unpredictable. We spend most of our mornings walking the fields or sitting under the shade talking about what needs to be done next. There is no big marketing team or fancy website here. We just use what we have and try to make the most of the soil. Ganesh Ram keeps an eye on the books and the supplies, while the rest of us are usually busy with the manual labor. It is a lot of physical work, and our hands are rarely clean by the end of the day. The village is small enough that everyone knows who we are and what we are trying to do. We don't use big words or have long meetings. We just meet up, decide what needs to happen, and then we go out and do it. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us connected to the ground and our neighbors.
