Yadaiad Vegetable Cultivation

We live and work at H. No. 5-30 in Harijawada, which is a small area in Jangam. Our business is all about growing vegetables, so we spend most of our daylight hours out in the dirt. It is not an easy life, as the work is very physical and depends entirely on what the weather decides to do. We grow a variety of things like leafy greens, tomatoes, and beans, depending on what month it is. The soil here in Jangam is what we know best, and we’ve been farming it for many years. Our house is right next to the fields, so the line between work and home is pretty thin. We don't have any big machines or high-tech systems; we mostly do things by hand or with simple tools. It can be very hot during the summer, and we have to be out there early to make sure the plants get enough water. We don't have a marketing plan or a brand; we just grow the best food we can and sell it to whoever needs it. Most of the other families in Harijawada are also farming, so there is a nice sense of community where everyone helps each other out. It’s a simple, quiet existence that keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset every day of the week. We just focus on the land and hope for a good harvest when the season changes.
