Samrat Store

If you walk down Railway Station Road in Jamalpur, you will find Samrat Store. We are near the Dashahara post office and police station area. This shop has been here for a good while, serving the people who are coming and going from the trains. It’s a lively spot because of the station nearby. We sell all the usual things like tea, snacks, and small items travelers might have forgotten at home. The shelves are quite high and I have to use a ladder sometimes to reach the top boxes. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when a train just pulled in and people are in a hurry. I try to keep things moving fast so nobody misses their connection. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it doesn't bother anyone. I know most of the people who live on this road and we usually exchange a few words while I'm counting out change. My cousin helps me out on the weekends when it gets extra crowded. We don't have a website or anything like that. Most people just see the name on the board and walk in. It is a straightforward business. We buy things from the big market and sell them here to the local community and the travelers. It’s a long day from morning till night, but it is good to be in the middle of all the action on the road.
