Ram Jatan Singh International School

Started the school here in Wazirganj on the Gaya Nawada main road. It gets really busy out there on NH 84 with all the trucks passing by. Most of our students live nearby in the local villages. We have a simple building and the classrooms have fans that stay on all day because of how hot Gaya gets in the summer. It's not a fancy place but we try to keep the rooms clean for the kids. In the mornings, there is a lot of noise when the buses pull up and the parents drop their kids off on motorcycles. We spend a lot of time just managing the gate. The teachers here are mostly from the area. We have a small playground which gets quite dusty when the wind picks up. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just open all the windows. It’s a lot of work running a place like this in such a busy location. The kids usually bring their own lunches and you can smell the food around noon. We just keep going day by day and try to make sure everyone is actually learning something. It feels like a small community once you step inside from the main road. The walls have some old charts on them that the students made. We don't have much time for fancy stuff because there's always something to fix or a parent waiting at the desk to talk about their child's marks or some other small thing.
