Darjeeling Tea Trading Company

Our place, Darjeeling Tea Trading Company, is on the Main Road in the Golmuri-Cum-Jugsalai area. Being in East Singhbhum, we get a lot of variety in terms of who walks through the door. The Main Road is always noisy with trucks and cars going past, so there is never a quiet moment during the day. We have bags of tea stacked up against the walls, mostly from the bigger estates but some local stuff too. The floor is concrete and a bit worn down from all the heavy bags being dragged across it. We don't really have a showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a warehouse feel where we do the trading. If you come by, you’ll probably see us covered in a bit of tea dust. It gets into everything, even the clothes we wear. We spend our time checking the leaves and making sure the bags are sealed properly so they don’t get ruined by the damp. The area around Jugsalai is quite crowded, so getting deliveries in and out can be a real headache sometimes. We have to time it just right. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and keeping track of what goes where. We don't have a big corporate office or fancy desks. Just a couple of chairs and a table where we handle the paperwork. It’s just a regular business keeping the local tea supply going for everyone.
