Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

We are over here at D-71 in the GMP Hostel area, right by XLRI in Jamshedpur. It’s a quiet part of the Circuit House Area East, which is nice because the rest of the city gets so busy and loud with the traffic. We spend most of our days inside these rooms dealing with whatever work comes our way from the main centre. It’s not a fancy setup at all. The furniture is a bit old and the fans make some noise when they are on full speed, but it gets the job done for us. Sometimes people get confused finding us because the hostel gate looks like any other residential entrance, but we’ve been here a while now. Most of us living here just focus on the projects at hand and try to keep things moving. Jamshedpur weather can be really tough in the summer, so we usually keep the windows shut to keep the dust out. There isn't much to see from the outside, just a regular building where people are busy with technical stuff. We don't have a big reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. If someone stops by, they usually just knock and we see what they need. It's a practical place for the work we do. We share the space and keep things tidy enough. It feels more like a home-office mix than a professional spot. The trees around here provide good shade when we walk out for lunch.
