Our office is located in Amarnath House, which is tucked away in Mitha Gali. We’re quite close to the Tin Darwaja and the local Grain Market here in Jamnagar. It’s a very traditional part of town, so it gets quite crowded with shoppers and vendors throughout the day. You can hear the sounds of the market from our windows. Gujarat Silicon has been based in this building for a long time. The office itself is pretty basic. We have a few desks, some filing cabinets that have seen better days, and a whole lot of samples. We deal with silicon products, which means there’s often talk about chemical properties and shipping schedules. It’s not the most exciting stuff to some, but it’s what we know. The narrow lanes around here make it hard to bring in big vehicles, so we’ve learned to manage the logistics carefully. We’re a small team and most of us have lived in Jamnagar all our lives. We don't use any fancy management software; a lot of our notes are still on paper. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we just keep going. People who come to visit usually know us by name. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't worry about being the biggest company, we just focus on getting our orders out to the people who need them.
