Samak Farms & Nursery

This place is mostly just dirt, pots, and green things growing in rows. We are located over at the Udheywala Skuast area in Jammu, tucked away right near the Division of Plant Pathology. Dr. Gayatri Tandon handles a lot of the daily heavy lifting and planning around here. It is a lot of hard work keeping everything alive, especially when the Jammu weather does not want to cooperate with us. We spend most of our early mornings checking on the new saplings and making sure the soil is just right. It is not a polished garden center like the ones you see in glossy magazines. This is a working nursery. Things get muddy and messy quite often. We have bags of fertilizer stacked in the corner and old tools lying around where we last used them. People usually come to us when they want plants that will actually survive in this specific climate. We do not use fancy words to describe the flowers or the trees. If a plant needs a lot of water every day, we just tell you that straight. If it is going to die in the direct sun, we tell you that too. The office is very small and usually smells like damp earth and rain. We have been part of this community for a while now, just doing our thing with the plants and the dirt. It is quiet out here, which is nice for the trees.
