Sadiq Provisinal Store

Up here in Srinagar, the winters are long and cold. Sadiq Provisinal Store stays open throughout it all. We are located near Noorbagh Chow in the Qamarwari area. It’s a busy spot. Most of our day is spent helping people find things like cooking oil, flour, or maybe some tea leaves. When it snows, things get a bit quiet, and we spend more time by the heater inside. The shop isn't very large. We have stuff stacked up high near the ceiling to make use of every inch of space. Sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to reach the top shelf. I’ve lived in Srinagar my whole life, so I know how the neighborhood has changed. Qamarwari has grown a lot, but our store stays pretty much the same. We have the same customers coming in for years. They know our family and we know theirs. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when the supplies are hard to get through the mountain roads. But we manage. We don't have any fancy signs or neon lights. Just a simple door and some windows. We open early because people need things before the day really starts. It's just a normal way to earn a living. We enjoy the chats with neighbors and seeing the local kids grow up.
