Up in Jalpaiguri, we operate out of the Pandapara Kali Bari area. It's a place that feels very connected to the local town. Stewarts And Lloyds Of India Limited has a small presence here, managed through T.P. Bhattacharya’s place. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a glass front or a big neon sign. In fact, if you weren't looking for us, you might walk right past the gate. The air is a bit fresher here than in the bigger cities, which is a nice perk. We spend our mornings checking the mail and seeing what needs to be dispatched. There’s no big hierarchy here; we all just do what needs to be done to keep things ticking over. The Kali Bari is a landmark everyone knows, so it’s easy to give directions. We don't have any slogans or fancy goals. We just want to make sure the day's tasks are finished before the sun goes down. Most of us have been here a long time, and we know the quirks of the building—which doors stick and which lights flicker. It’s a comfortable, worn-in kind of place. We don't really do anything promotional. We just exist here in Jalpaiguri, doing our part of the work without much fuss. It's practical and it suits us fine.
