Putinbaree Tea Association Ltd.

We are the Putinbaree Tea Association Ltd. down on M.R. Road in Khalpara. Being in Darjeeling district, tea is pretty much what everything revolves around here. Our office isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we manage the daily business of the association. We’ve got a lot of history with the local gardens and the people who work them. Dealing with tea means you’re always thinking about the weather and the seasons. It’s a lot of coordination and paperwork that people don’t usually see. Khalpara can get quite crowded, but our spot on M.R. Road is where we’ve settled in. We aren't interested in sounding like a big corporation because we aren't one. We are just folks who know tea and how the market works around here. Sometimes the phones ring off the hook, and other times it's quiet enough to actually hear the street noise outside. We spend a lot of time talking to growers and making sure things are moving as they should. It’s not always easy, especially when the rains are heavy and transport gets tricky. But that's just part of the job when you're based in this part of the country. We just keep our doors open and do what needs doing every single day. The ceiling fan in the main room makes a bit of a clicking sound, but we’ve gotten used to it. We keep a stack of old ledgers in the corner too. No big mystery to it, just steady work.
