We are located at the Hope Tea Garden in Nagrakata, out in the Jalpaiguri district. It’s a different world out here compared to the cities. The Goodricke Group has a lot of history, but here at the garden, it’s mostly about the land and the weather. Our days start early, often before the sun is fully up, especially when the season is busy. The office is right there among the greenery. It isn’t a fancy corporate setup with air conditioning in every corner. It’s a practical place where we manage the workers, the crops, and the logistics of getting things where they need to go. There’s a lot of walking involved. We spend as much time outside as we do behind a desk. Sometimes the rain in West Bengal makes things difficult, and we just have to deal with the mud and the delays. It’s hard work, and it isn’t always pretty. We don't have any polished speeches about what we do. We just grow tea and try to make sure everything runs smoothly. Most of us have lived in this district for years, so we understand how things work here. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but there is always something that needs fixing or a problem that needs solving. We just take it one day at a time, looking after the garden and the people. That's about it.
