Durga Tea House

Durga Tea House is located on Dr. Kalinath Road in the Khalpara area of Darjeeling. Since we are in the heart of tea country, we’ve always been involved with the trade. Our shop is a bit older and doesn't have any of those modern glass fronts. It’s just a traditional tea house where we keep things simple. The road outside is usually packed with traffic and people, so it can get quite loud. We spend our time checking the quality of the leaves and talking to our regular customers. We don't have any big mission or polished corporate goals. We just want to run a decent shop. It’s a lot of work to keep the tea fresh, especially when the weather gets damp up here. We don't do much in the way of promotion. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for years or they live nearby. It’s a very local business and we like it that way. We know the neighbors and the other traders on the street. Sometimes we just sit and have a cup of tea ourselves when things are slow. It is not a high-pressure environment. We just do our work, keep the place clean, and go home. It’s an honest way to spend the day in Khalpara. We might not be the biggest house on the block, but we’re here every morning when the sun comes up.
