We’re located over in Bankim Park. It’s a bit of a quiet area, which suits us just fine for the kind of work we do. Himalayan Rural Organic Coffee Growers Welfare Association is a long name, but it pretty much says what we’re about. We spend our days dealing with the coffee growers from the rural mountain areas. It’s not an easy job because the terrain up there is tough and the weather doesn't always cooperate with the crops. We aren't some big corporate office with glass walls. Our place in Bankim Park is pretty basic. We’ve got desks, a lot of files, and there’s usually a pot of coffee going, though it’s not always the fancy stuff we talk about. Most of our time goes into checking on the welfare of the farmers and making sure the organic standards are being kept. It involves a lot of back-and-forth communication, which can be a real headache when the phone lines are acting up. We’ve been here for a while and the locals know us. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us trying to keep things running for the growers. Sometimes the paperwork gets backed up, but we eventually get through it. If you’re ever walking around Bankim Park, you might see us. We’re just regular folks doing our part for the coffee community. It is a slow process, but we just keep at it.
