Nanded is a busy place and we are right here on the road that goes towards Hyderabad. We have been at this spot in Kakandigaon for a while now. It is mostly a simple place where people stop when they are travelling long distances. The road outside is always noisy with trucks and cars passing by all day and night. We started this because we saw so many people needing a place to rest their legs or get a quick bite before moving on. It is not a fancy setup. We have basic rooms and the food is what we eat at home mostly. My brother and I look after the daily work here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to manage with what we have. Most of our guests are regulars who know us by name. They come here because they know the tea is strong and the beds are clean enough for a night's sleep. We don't have a big team, just a few local boys who help with the cleaning and the kitchen. It gets very hot here in the summer months so we try to keep the water cool for anyone walking in. Life here is mostly about meeting new faces every day and hearing their stories about where they are coming from. It is a lot of hard work keeping a hotel running on a highway but it keeps us busy and we like being part of this community.
