Dnyanai Weaves Private Limited is tucked away in the Telephone Nagar area of Jalgaon. Our address is Plot No. 2, Survey No. 478/1B/4, and it’s a place where work starts before the sun gets too high. The heat in this part of Maharashtra is something else, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. The shed is large and filled with the rhythm of the machines doing their job. It’s a steady clatter that becomes the background noise of our lives. We have stacks of finished cloth waiting in one corner, and raw materials piled up in the other. There is a small gate at the entrance where the watchman sits, and he usually knows everyone who comes and goes by name. We don't have a shiny reception area or anyone to bring you water in a glass; it’s more of a help-yourself kind of place. The walls are painted a simple white, though they’ve turned a bit grey over the years from the industrial work. We keep the ledgers in a locked cupboard, and every evening we spend an hour writing down what was finished. It’s a straightforward life in the textile trade.
