The Maya Hotel

Being right on the GT Road near BMC Chowk means there is always something happening outside. The Maya Hotel sits in a pretty busy part of Jalandhar, right in Civil Lines where the traffic never really seems to let up. You can hear the horns honking and the trucks rumbling by at all hours of the night. It’s an older part of the city, and the building has its own quirks, like the way the pipes sometimes hum when someone turns on a tap. We have a lot of people coming in for work stuff since we are so close to the main centers of town. The lobby is usually full of people waiting for their rides or checking their phones. The people who work here have seen it all over the years. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy and making sure the kitchen is ready for the breakfast rush. It gets quite cold here in the winters, and we do what we can to keep the draft out of the main doors. It’s a straightforward kind of place. We don't have any of those fancy modern glass walls, just solid walls and a lot of history. People come for the location because you can get anywhere in Jalandhar from here pretty fast, assuming the traffic at the chowk isn't too backed up at that hour.
