We are over at House No. 132-L in the Model Town area of Jalandhar City. If you know Punjab, you know Model Town is a pretty well-known spot. This is where we run things for Radio Mantra. It’s not like those giant media hubs you see on TV; it’s more of a local operation inside a converted house. There’s always someone in the studio or people running around with headsets. It gets pretty noisy because we’ve always got the radio playing in the background or someone testing a mic. We’ve been here in Jalandhar for a while, and the neighborhood is pretty settled. Working in a house makes it feel a bit more relaxed than a cold office building. We have our coffee breaks out front or in the small kitchen area. The daily grind involves a lot of scheduling, talking to people who want to put out messages, and making sure the broadcast doesn’t cut out. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We don’t have fancy titles or a dress code; we just show up and make sure the station is doing what it needs to do for the listeners in the city. Every day is a bit different depending on what’s happening in town, but the location stays the same. It's a solid place to work if you like being in the middle of the local buzz. We also spend time checking the equipment and making sure the signals are clear.
