Atwal Boutique

You have to go up to the first floor of Rajendra Complex at Jyoti Chowk to find Atwal Boutique. Shop number 32 is where we do all our work. Being on the first floor means people don't always see us from the street, but we have our regular customers who have been coming for years. We do a lot of custom work, so there are always measuring tapes and chalk pieces lying around. The sewing machines make a steady rhythm that we’ve all grown to love. It gets pretty hot in the afternoon because the sun hits our windows directly. We have a few chairs for people to sit on while we talk about what they want made. It’s a very personal way of doing things. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. People just find us through word of mouth. Sometimes a customer brings in a piece of fabric they bought somewhere else and asks us to turn it into something special. We do our best to make it happen. The complex itself is always full of people going to different offices and shops. It can be a bit chaotic near the stairs, but once you get inside our shop, it’s a bit more focused. We just take it one stitch at a time and try to keep our customers coming back.
