Kamal Orchestra

If you walk through Purani Kotwali Bazar in Jalandhar City, you will find us at number 45. We are quite close to Jain Hospital, which is the main landmark around here that everyone knows. This part of the city is very old and the streets are quite narrow, so it can be a bit of a squeeze when we are moving the big instruments and speakers. Kamal Orchestra has been around for a long time. We have seen the market change and grow over the years. The shop is filled with all sorts of musical stuff. There is usually a harmonium or some drums sitting around in the way. It smells like old wood and maybe a bit of incense from the morning prayers. We aren't trying to be anything we are not. We just provide music for functions and local gatherings. It is a noisy job but we are used to it by now. The neighbors are mostly shopkeepers too, so we all know each other well. Sometimes we sit outside on the stools and watch the people go by when it’s a slow morning and the sun is out. Jalandhar City is a busy place, and being in the heart of the bazaar means there is never a dull moment. We just keep our heads down and focus on the next performance. It’s a living and we are happy with how things are going for us here.
