Jalandhar Taxi Service is based over in New Raja Garden, right on Mithapur Road near Bhagwan Mahavir Marg. Our day usually starts very early, sometimes even before the sun is up, because that is when the first airport runs happen. We have a small area where we keep track of the cars and who is driving where. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking the maps to see how the traffic is looking on the main roads. The cars need a lot of looking after, so you’ll often see one of us checking the oil or cleaning the seats between trips. We get people going all over the place, some just going to the market and others headed for long trips out of town. The office is pretty basic with just a couple of desks and some chairs for drivers to sit on while they wait for their next turn. Mithapur Road is always moving so there is a lot of noise from the trucks and bikes passing by outside. We don’t have any fancy systems, just a notebook and some mobile phones to keep everything moving. It gets a bit hectic when multiple bookings come in at once, but we just handle them as they come. It’s steady work and keeps us busy from morning until late at night. Every day is a bit different depending on who calls and where they need to go.
