Jaganmohan Reddy Farms

It is mostly quiet out here at Plot Number 49. We have been in Partap Singh Nagar for a good while now. Street Number 6 is a bit narrow, so when the trucks come in, everyone has to pull over to let them pass. My hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. That is just how it goes when you are working the land. We spend a lot of time checking the soil and looking at the sky. If the rain does not come when it should, we have more work to do with the pumps. People around here know the farm well. It is not like those big corporate places you see in the news. It is just us and a few helpers from the neighborhood. We grow what the season allows. Some years are better than others. Last summer was particularly dry and we lost a few patches of crops, but we just cleared it out and started again. There is always something to fix, whether it is a fence post that rotted out or a tool that needs sharpening. The shed where we keep the equipment gets really hot in the afternoon sun. I usually take a break under the big tree near the gate around two o'clock. It is hard work and my back hurts most evenings, but the farm keeps us busy and we like being outdoors instead of sitting in an office all day. We just keep planting and hope for the best.
