City Hospital And Maternity Home

We are located at 213 New Jawahar Nagar, right along Tanda Road here in Jalandhar. It’s a pretty busy part of the city. Since we handle maternity cases, there is usually the sound of a baby crying somewhere in the building, which is actually kind of a nice change from the usual hospital noises. The rooms are basic, just the beds and a few chairs for the fathers to sit in while they wait. We’ve been at this address for a good while, so the walls have been repainted a few times to keep things looking decent. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and motorbikes, so it can be a bit loud if you leave the windows open. We have a small area where the nurses keep their charts, and it’s usually piled high with papers. Sometimes the laundry takes a while to get back, but we always have fresh sheets ready. The staff here is mostly local women who have been working together for years. We know most of the families that come through because Jalandhar isn't that big once you get talking. It is a lot of work, especially when several babies decide to come at the same time in the middle of the night. We just keep the lights on and the kettle going, making sure everyone is taken care of as best as we can. It’s a simple, honest place where a lot of local families got their start.
