Angel Rebel & Rebel India

Down on Peerdad Road in Basti Bawa Khel, you’ll find us working away most days. It’s a lively part of town, and there’s always something happening right outside our door. The shop has two names on the front, Angel Rebel & Rebel India, which might seem a bit much, but it’s just how we set things up. We handle a lot of different goods here, mostly stuff that people use every day. The building is older, with high ceilings and floors that have seen better days, but it serves us well. We start early, usually before the heat of the day really kicks in. Basti Bawa Khel is the kind of place where everyone knows what their neighbors are doing, so we get a lot of folks stopping by just to say hello while we work. The work itself isn't complicated, but it takes time to get it right. We spend a lot of hours sorting through materials and making sure everything is ready for the next step. Peerdad Road can get quite congested with carts and bikes, which makes loading things up a bit of a challenge sometimes. We’ve learned to work around the local traffic. It’s a no-nonsense environment where we just show up, do the tasks assigned, and go home when the work is finished. Most of our tools are old and a bit rusty, but they still work better than the new stuff you see in the shops. We've got a radio that plays the local stations while we work, and it helps drown out the noise of the bikes on Peerdad Road. The floor gets swept once a day, but by noon it’s covered in bits of string and dust again. We don't mind. It's a place where things are actually made, not just sold. We take our time with the tasks because rushing just leads to mistakes. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big shipment is due. We just pull up a stool and keep at it until it's done. That’s how we’ve always operated here in Basti Bawa Khel.
