We’re tucked away in Crystal Mall, over at Bani Park in Jaipur. Being in a mall means there’s always air conditioning, which is a relief during the summer months. Our office is B-1, and it’s mostly filled with desks and a lot of computer monitors. Since we deal with the internet side of things, we spend hours just typing and clicking. It’s not a retail shop where people walk in to browse; it’s more of a back-end operation. Boxes of stuff come in and out, which I guess is why the name is what it is. We have piles of inventory records and tea mugs scattered around. It’s a casual atmosphere. Most of us wear jeans and don’t really bother with the corporate look. The mall can get pretty quiet during the weekdays, but it picks up on the weekends. Sometimes we go downstairs to the food court when we’re tired of our packed lunches. It’s a lot of data entry and talking to suppliers on the phone. We don’t have fancy slogans or big posters on the walls. It’s just a functional space where we try to keep the website running and the orders moving. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we’ve got a good rhythm going now. We’ve been here at Bani Park for a while and like the location. It’s easy to get to and there’s always something happening in the mall to keep us distracted.
