Turban Aid Foundation

Turban Aid Foundation is basically run out of the space at 131/1 Shahadana Colony. It is listed as C/O Gurabakar Singh. The house is easy enough to find if you know the colony landmarks. It is a very lived-in space. We have a lot of fabric around and some old chairs for when visitors come by. It isn't a corporate office with glass walls. It is more of a community spot where people feel comfortable walking in. The morning starts with clearing off the main table so we can work. We have a small window that looks out onto the street. You can see the neighbors going about their day. Sometimes we spend hours just sorting through things or answering messages. There is no big marketing department here. It is just us doing the daily chores that keep the foundation running. We usually have some music playing or just the sound of the ceiling fan. The floor is tiled and stays relatively cool. If we run out of milk for tea, someone just walks down to the corner shop. It is a very local way of doing things. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a to-do list scribbled on a piece of paper taped to the fridge. It’s a simple life and a simple way to work. We sometimes forget whose turn it is to bring the milk, but we manage.
