Tileco (Marbles) Pvt. Ltd. is situated at B-231, Road No. 9, in the V.K.I. Area. That stands for Vishwakarma Industrial Area, and it is a pretty rugged part of town. Our yard is filled with big slabs of marble and stacks of tiles. It is a heavy business, literally. We spend a lot of time moving stone around with cranes and forklifts. Road No. 9 is usually busy with big trucks trying to navigate the narrow turns, and the air is almost always a bit dusty from the stone cutting. We don’t have a polished showroom with carpets. Instead, we have a functional space where you can see the raw material as it arrives. Our office is just a small room in the corner of the lot where we keep the invoices and the phone. It gets quite loud when the saws are running, so you have to shout a bit to be heard. People come to us when they need stone for their floors or walls, and we just show them what we have in stock. The V.K.I. Area is not the prettiest place, but it is where the real work happens. We just try to keep the slabs moving and the orders correct. It is hard work, but we have a good rhythm going here on Road No. 9.
