Thar Development Foundation

If you go down Niwaru Road in Jhotwara, you’ll find us. We are at 61, Krishna Vihar. It’s right opposite the Bharat Gas Godown. That’s a good landmark because everyone knows where the gas cylinders are. Thar Development Foundation is a local operation. Jhotwara is a very busy part of town. There is always noise from the traffic. Our office is a bit of an escape from that. It’s a standard house turned into a working space. We focus on development stuff, especially things related to the drier parts of the region since we are named after the Thar. We have stacks of reports and some old maps. The neighborhood of Krishna Vihar is mostly families. We see the same people walking their dogs or going to the market every day. The office has a small front area where we keep some files. We don't have a receptionist. Whoever is closest to the door answers it. It’s a very hands-on way of working. We drink a lot of water because it gets dry here. The gas godown across the street has trucks coming and going all the time. You get used to the sound. We’ve been at number 61 for a while. It’s a comfortable spot. We don't do much marketing or anything like that. We just stay busy with the work at hand and talk to whoever drops by.
