Sonika Stones

We are based out of 3/554 in Malviya Nagar, which is a busy neighborhood with a lot of shops and houses close together. At Sonika Stones, we occupy this space with quite a bit of heavy material. The street outside is almost always crowded with people walking or cars trying to squeeze past each other. Inside, it’s a bit more organized, though there’s always a fine layer of dust on everything because that’s just what happens when you work with stone. We have our slabs lined up along the walls, and sometimes it feels like the space is a bit too small for everything we want to keep in stock. We don’t have a fancy entrance or a receptionist to greet people; you usually just walk in and find one of us near the back or on the phone. We spend our time checking the quality of the stone and talking to contractors who need specific sizes for their projects. It gets pretty loud when we have to move things around, and the neighbors probably aren’t too fond of the noise, but we try to be quick about it. The lighting isn't great, so we often take pieces out to the doorway to see the natural color of the grain. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day, just dealing with the raw material and making sure the orders are correct before they leave. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things moving.
