If you spend any time around here, you know it is all about the noise of the machines and the trucks moving in and out. It is a busy industrial zone, and we fit right in with the rest of the factories. We spend most of our hours out in the yard or near the mixers. There is always a layer of grey dust on everything, including our boots, but that is just part of working with concrete and aggregates. We do not have much of a formal atmosphere here. The guys just show up, get their assignments, and start the day. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon gets pretty bad, so we take our breaks in the shade of the main building. It is not the kind of place for someone who likes a quiet office. We prefer being in the middle of the action where we can see the product actually going out. Most of us have been working in this area for years, so we know the routine by heart. We just focus on the work and making sure the trucks are loaded correctly.
