Shree Kisan Lal Yadav Shanti Devi Jankalyan Foundation

Everything happens right out of the village home in Kishanpura. This is where Kisan Lal Yadav lives, and he’s been here basically his whole life. If you head toward Tehsil Viratnagar, you will eventually find our spot. It’s not an office building like you’d see in the city. It’s just a house where people know they can come if they have a problem. The name of the foundation comes from the elders, Kisan Lal and Shanti Devi, because they always liked helping the neighbors. We don’t have fancy computers or a lobby with a receptionist. Most of our meetings happen on the porch or under the tree in the yard when the sun isn't too strong. The goats sometimes make a bit of noise in the background, but that is just village life for you. People walk over from the nearby farms to talk about their kids or their crops. We listen and see if there is any way we can lend a hand. It’s a slow way of doing things, but it feels right for this place. We don’t have a website or anything like that yet. Most people hear about us through word of mouth while they are at the market or the temple. The road out here gets a bit muddy when it rains, so watch your step if you visit during monsoon season. We just want to keep the family tradition of being useful to others going for a few more years. It's a simple life here.
