Shagun Marbles

Our yard is located at 70 Sirsi Road, near the Officers Camp Vistar area. It’s mostly an open space because of the size of the stone slabs we keep here. When you walk in, you’ll see stacks of marble and stone everywhere. It’s a dusty business, and there’s always the sound of water or saws if someone is cutting a piece to size. We spend most of our time out in the sun or under the shed, moving things around with the crane. It isn't a polished showroom with air conditioning; it’s a working yard where the materials are the main focus. We’ve been on Sirsi Road for a good while and have seen it turn from a quiet stretch into a very busy thoroughfare. Most people who come to see us are looking for something specific for their house or a project they are working on. We don't have a big sales pitch. We just show the slabs, let people feel the texture, and talk about the price. It’s a very physical job, and by the end of the day, we’re usually pretty tired. We aren't trying to be the biggest in the city; we just want to keep the yard running and make sure the stock is decent for whoever stops by. Sometimes the trucks arrive late and we have to stay after hours to finish unloading, but that is just part of the trade. It is simple, heavy work that keeps us busy.
