About Saboo Namkeen Shop – Food & Beverages in Jaipur
Our shop is tucked into the busy Chandpole Bazar, right near the Kaleshwar Temple at shop number 54/658. It’s an old part of the city, and you can hear the temple bells ringing throughout the day. We keep all our namkeen in big glass jars and metal containers. The air always smells like fried gram flour and various spices like black pepper and cloves. We’ve been here for a long time, and many of our customers are the same people who have been coming since they were kids. It’s a small space, so when more than three people come in, it feels crowded. We spend a lot of time weighing out snacks on the scales and tying up paper bags with thin string. The floor is old stone, and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We don't have fancy lights or big displays, just the rows of snacks that we make fresh. Sometimes we sit on the wooden stools out front when things are quiet and watch the rickshaws go by. It’s a simple life, selling savory bites to people on their way to the temple or back home. We take pride in the crunch of our sev and the spice in our mixtures. It’s just how we do things here in the bazaar. We stay open late most nights to catch the shoppers.
