S M B Coconut

We are located in Mahal Colony, right near the Haji Sanu Market. Being close to the market means it is always busy around here. There are trucks coming and going all day long, and the noise is just part of our life now. We deal with coconuts, so the place is always filled with the smell of fresh husks and a bit of dust. It is a very hands-on kind of job. We do not spend much time sitting at desks. Most of us are out on the floor moving things around or checking the quality of what is coming in from the farms. The office part is just a small corner where we keep the ledgers and the phone. It is usually dusty because of all the activity. We do not really wear uniforms or anything like that; we just wear what is comfortable for moving heavy bags. Sometimes it gets very hot in the afternoons, so we take breaks in the shade when we can. The neighbors are mostly other small businesses, so we all know each other and say hello in the mornings. It is a hard-working atmosphere, but it is honest. We focus on getting the coconuts loaded and sent out to the people who need them. It is not a complicated business, but you have to be willing to get your hands dirty every single day. We keep the floor moving and make sure the count is right before the trucks leave.
