S C M Engineers

Over at Hawa Sarak in Patel Nagar, number 49 is where you’ll find us working away. S C M Engineers isn't a place with clean floors or quiet offices; it’s a workshop through and through. We have tools scattered across the benches and the smell of oil and cut metal is always around. Most of our day is spent looking at parts and trying to figure out why a machine isn't running the way it should. We get a lot of grease under our fingernails, and the soap in the bathroom never quite gets it all off. The building itself is older, with some cracks in the plaster that we’ve just stopped noticing. We have a couple of old chairs for visitors, but they usually end up holding a toolbox or some blueprints instead. It can get pretty loud when the drills are going, so we do a lot of nodding and pointing to communicate. Patel Nagar is a busy area, but once you’re inside the shop, the focus is just on the task at hand. We aren't big on meetings or fancy presentations; we’d rather just show someone the work we did on the metal. Sometimes the tea stays on the table long enough to get cold because we got stuck on a difficult repair. It’s just how we operate, focusing on the mechanical side of things and letting the rest take care of itself.
