You can find us at number 7 in Johari Bazar. It’s one of those very busy streets where you really have to watch where you walk because of the crowds. Our shop has been in the family for a couple of generations now. The counters are made of old wood and glass. We make all the sweets in the small workshop located right behind the main shop. You can hear the constant noise of the heavy ladles hitting the metal pans if you stand near the back wall. We use milk, sugar, and whatever else is needed for the day's batch. It gets very crowded during the festival times. People are standing elbow to elbow in the shop then. We don't have a fancy air conditioner, just some old ceiling fans that creak a little as they spin. The floor is made of stone and stays relatively cool even in summer. We don't do much in terms of fancy packaging unless someone specifically asks for a gift box. Mostly, it’s just plain cardboard boxes tied with a bit of thin string. We see a lot of tourists because of where we are located in the market. But we also have many regulars who have been coming since they were small children. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just make the sweets every morning and put them out on display. It’s hard work and the kitchen is always hot, but we just keep doing it.
