Our place is tucked away in Jhalaniyon Ka Rasta, right inside the busy Kishanpole Bazar area. If you know this part of the city, you know how narrow and crowded these lanes can get on a daily basis. It’s always full of people and bikes, especially when the festival seasons come around. We’ve been operating out of this same spot for many years now. The shop is quite small and the shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so we have to use an old wooden stool to reach the stuff at the top. There’s a constant smell of spices and old paper in the air around here. Most days start early with someone sweeping the front step and getting the ledgers ready on the counter. We see the same faces every single day, people going to their jobs or heading to the temple nearby. It’s a noisy part of town, but you get used to the shouting and the temple bells after a week. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit when it’s on the high setting, but it keeps us cool enough during the humid months. We don't have a big neon sign, just the name written above the door that has faded a bit over the many hot summers. Sometimes the delivery guys have a hard time finding the entrance because the turns are so confusing for newcomers. We just do our work, fill out our forms, and chat with whoever stops by.
