Rakesh Marbles

Located over at 175-176 in the Jhotwara area, specifically Kalyan Kunj on Kalwar Road, you’ll find our stone yard. It’s basically a big open space filled with slabs of marble and some granite. The white dust from the cutting saws covers almost everything by the afternoon. Rakesh Marbles is just a local spot where we handle these heavy stones all day. It’s physically demanding work, moving these pieces around and making sure they don't crack. We don't have any air conditioning or fancy chairs. Just the office cabin where we sit and talk to people who come in looking for materials for their homes. Most of the time, the sound of the cutters is the only thing you hear. We get our stock in, we cut it down to size, and we load it onto the trucks. It is a straightforward business. Sometimes the weather makes it tough, like when it rains and the ground gets muddy, but the work doesn't really stop. The traffic on Kalwar Road can be a headache, but we’re used to it by now. People come by, look at the patterns in the stone, and we help them figure out how many pieces they need. It’s honest work. We’ve been at this spot for a while and the locals know where to find us. It’s not a glamorous job, but the stone looks good when it’s finally laid down.
