Prateek Stone

Our place is tucked away at 9/10 Sharma Colony Extention, right in the 22 Godam Industrial Area. It’s a busy spot with lots of trucks and noise from the other workshops nearby. We spend most of our mornings unloading stone and making sure everything is where it should be. The industrial area can be a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. Working with stone is heavy work. You have to be careful with your back and your toes. We deal with all sorts of natural materials. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something to clean or a machine that needs a bit of grease. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to keep the doors open and do right by the people who come to see us. The air usually smells like damp stone and engine oil. It’s not a place for nice clothes. I usually wear my old boots because they get covered in slurry anyway. When someone stops by, we just show them what’s in the yard. No pressure or anything. We just tell them what we have and what it costs. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. The sun hits the yard hard in the afternoons, so we usually take a quick break then. That’s life here in Sharma Colony.
