Pragati Stone Industry

Our workshop, Pragati Stone Industry, is situated at Plot No. J-311-312 in the Sitapura Industrial Area, right off Tonk Road. It is not hard to find if you know the area. We do stone cutting and polishing here. It is heavy, dirty work that leaves your hands feeling rough at the end of every week. We have big cutting blades and polishing machines lined up across the floor. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we all just sit outside in the shade and wait for it to come back. It is just part of the daily routine here. We do not have a big sign out front, just the plot number painted on the gate. Most people who visit us are looking for specific types of stone for their own building projects. We show them the blocks we have in the yard. We are not interested in fast talk or sales pitches. We just tell them what the stone is and where it was quarried. Some days the heat under the tin roof is quite bad, so we drink plenty of water and keep moving. The sound of the blades hitting the rock is a constant noise that you eventually stop noticing. We have a small section for the finished pieces that have been cleaned up. Most of our work comes from people telling their neighbors about us. It is just us and a few workers getting through the daily tasks.
