We are out in Alwar, specifically in Aravali Vihar, Kala Kua Housing Board. It's a bit of a distance from the main city hub. Our office is at 3-405. Being in Rajasthan, we deal with a lot of stone, mostly slate and sandstone. That’s what’s in the name anyway. It’s dusty work sometimes, but that’s just how it is with stones. The sun gets really hot here in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy stuff done in the morning. We’ve been working with these materials for years. It’s not a glamorous business. Our office has samples lying around everywhere. You might trip over a piece of sandstone if you aren’t looking. We talk to people from all over who want stones from this region. We aren't a big corporate entity with hundreds of people. It’s just a small group of us making sure the exports go out on time. The housing board area is mostly quiet, which is nice for focusing. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just know our stones and we know the people who buy them. Some days the logistics are a headache, but we figure it out. It’s honest work and we’ve been here long enough that people in the neighborhood know what we do. It feels like home after all these years of working with the earth. We've got a small kettle in the corner for making chai when visitors come by.
