National Engineering Industries Ltd.

We have been here on Khatipura Road for quite some time now. Most people around here know where National Engineering Industries Ltd. is because of the old gates and the steady stream of people coming in for their shifts. It gets pretty loud once the machines are all running, but that is just how it is in a place like this. We spend our days looking at bearings and metal parts, making sure everything is moving right. It isn’t fancy work, but it is what we do. The tea stall right outside gets busy around four when everyone takes a break. Sometimes the heat in the workshop is a bit much in the summer, but you get used to it. We have staff who have worked here for twenty years and some kids who just started last week. It is a mix of old hands and new ones trying to figure things out. Most of the time, we are just focused on the orders coming in and making sure the trucks get loaded without too much trouble. Life here is mostly about the sound of steel and the smell of grease. We don't spend much time on fancy office talk or making things look better than they are. We just open up early, get the work done, and go home to our families when the whistle blows at the end of the day. It’s a bit dusty, and the floors are never quite clean, but it’s our place.
