Merd India Foundation

If you've ever walked through Nehru Bazar in Jaipur, you know how crowded it gets. We are tucked away in Building No. 7, which is Shankar Bhawan, right in the heart of Film Colony. It’s a lively spot to be. There’s always noise from the market and people moving back and forth all day. Merd India Foundation has been operating out of this space for a while now. We like being centrally located because it’s easy for people to find us, even if the parking is a bit of a nightmare sometimes. The office isn't anything special to look at, just some desks and chairs and a lot of paperwork piled up. We spend our days trying to help out where we can. Living and working in Jaipur means you meet all sorts of people. We see everyone from shopkeepers to students coming through the doors. The heat in the building can get a bit much in May, but we have a couple of fans that do the trick. We don't have a PR person or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just do the work. Being in Film Colony gives the place a bit of character, I think. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the shortcuts through the lanes. It’s a busy life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Just a group of local people trying to keep things running at Shankar Bhawan.
