In Pachkodiya village, things are quiet compared to the big cities. Mahesh Kirana & Ganeral Store is my small contribution to the village life here in the Phulera area. We are located near Mudoti, and if you are coming via Jobner, you can't miss us. It’s a simple brick building where we keep all the essentials for the local families. We have grains, oils, and the usual spices that everyone uses in their cooking. Dealing with the heat in the summer can be tough, especially when we are waiting for the supply truck to arrive from the main town. I’ve been running this for a few years now. Most of my day is spent weighing out bags of dal or flour for the neighbors. We don’t have a computer system here, everything is written down in a notebook when someone buys on credit. That’s just how things work in a village like ours. We trust each other. Sometimes the kids come in after school looking for small candies or biscuits, and that makes the shop feel lively. My wife helps me out in the evenings when it gets a bit more crowded after the men return from the fields. We don't have big ambitions, just to keep the shop running well so people don't have to travel too far for their basic needs. It's a steady life here in Pachkodiya.
