Mahendra Khad Biz

We have been at the Kalyanpura Main Market for a while now. The shop, Mahendra Khad Biz, is right where most people pass through during the day. It gets pretty dusty out here when the wind picks up, but that is just how it is in the market. We mostly deal with fertilizers and stuff farmers need. It is a lot of heavy lifting, dragging bags around, and checking the stocks. The morning starts early because people want to get their things before the sun gets too hot. Usually, it is just me and maybe one other person here. We keep a ledger on the wooden desk for all the accounts. It is not a fancy place, just some shelves and stacks of bags against the wall. Sometimes the tea seller from next door drops by and we chat for a bit while waiting for customers. Most people who come in are regulars from the nearby villages. They know where we are, right in the heart of the market. The sign outside is a bit faded but you can still see it. We try to stay organized but when several trucks arrive at once, things get a bit messy for a few hours. The floor is usually covered in a bit of grit from the sacks. It is steady work. We open the shutters around eight and stay until the market starts thinning out in the evening. Sometimes the fan makes a clicking noise. We have a small bench outside for anyone who needs to sit for a minute while we load their stuff. It is a plain spot, but it does what it needs to do.
