Mahaveer Kirana Stores

At Mahaveer Kirana Stores, we spend most of our time weighing out grains and packing sugar into small bags. Our shop is located at Tripoliya Bazar 345, right where the market is always at its busiest. You can smell the different spices and the raw rice as soon as you step inside. It is a traditional kind of grocery store, so there are sacks of lentils stacked up near the entrance and jars of pickles on the wooden shelves. Tripoliya Bazar is a crowded place, and sometimes the cows even wander past the front door while we are serving customers. We have a lot of regulars who have been buying their monthly rations from us for decades. They usually come in with a list written on a scrap of paper, and we pull everything from the back rooms for them. The ceiling fan is old and makes a clicking sound, but it helps when the Rajasthan heat gets too much. We close for a little bit in the afternoon to have a quick meal and then stay open until late when the bazar lights up. There is no corporate feeling here, just the sound of the weighing scale and the chatter of people arguing about the price of chickpeas or oil. It is just how we have always done things at number 345.
