Ssb Marbles

We are over in Phase IV of Madanganj. Ssb Marbles is the name on the front gate. This part of town is basically all stone and dust. You look around and see rows of white and grey slabs everywhere. It’s a big area. We spend most of the morning checking the stock that arrived overnight. The crane is the most important thing we own. Without it, we couldn't move anything. The sun hits the marble and makes it very bright. You have to wear sunglasses some days or your eyes will hurt. We keep a water cooler in the corner for anyone who gets thirsty. It gets very hot in the summer months. The ground is uneven. You get used to walking on gravel and stone scraps all day. We talk to the truck drivers who bring the blocks from the mines. They have many stories from the road. Madanganj is the heart of the marble world around here. Phase IV is a bit further out than the others, but it’s still busy. We have some shade near the office wall. That’s where we sit for lunch. Simple food, usually just roti and some veg we brought from home. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People find us by the address. We deal with what we have. Some slabs have cracks and some are perfect. We show them as they are. It's an honest living. The days go by fast when there's a lot to load. After work, we just want to sit down.
