Madan Marbles

Madan Marbles is located right in the heart of the stone country in Makrana. We are situated on Borawar Road, which is basically the main artery for the marble trade here. Being in Makrana means we are right where the famous white stone comes from, so things are always busy and very dusty. Our yard is filled with blocks and slabs of all sizes. My family has been in this trade for a long time, so we know the stone pretty well. The sun gets incredibly hot out here on the road, and it reflects off the white marble, which can be quite blinding if you aren’t wearing sunglasses. We spend our days grading the stone and talking to buyers who come from all over the country. It is a lot of haggling and inspecting grains. We don’t have a fancy office; we usually just sit on some plastic chairs under the shade of a tin roof to do our business. It is a tough environment but it is what we know. There is a lot of noise from the cutting machines nearby, and the sound of trucks is constant. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just sell marble. Some pieces are better than others, and we tell people that straight without making it sound like something it isn't. It is an honest, local way of life. We take the stone from the ground and get it ready for someone’s floor, and that is how it has always been for us.
