Maabhagwati Geeta Devi Foundation

Maabhagwati Geeta Devi Foundation is based at B 144 in the Ganga Jamuna Colony. We are in Scheme No. 14, which is in the Murlipura area of Jaipur. The office is basically a converted part of a residential building. We have a metal gate out front that squeaks whenever someone opens it. Inside, it's pretty basic. We have some plastic chairs for guests and a heavy wooden desk where most of the work happens. Murlipura is a busy part of the city, so there is always some noise from the street. We don't mind it much. It’s just the sound of the city. We spend our days going through applications and keeping the books balanced. It’s not a high-tech operation. We still use a lot of paper and pens. Sometimes the lights flicker when the neighbor uses their heavy machinery, but we just keep going. It’s a small team of us, and we all know each other's families. We don't have a formal dress code. Most days it’s just jeans and a shirt. We try to keep the place tidy, but with all the boxes of records, it’s a bit of a challenge. It’s a real place with real people working in it. We don't try to look like something we aren't. We are just here in Murlipura doing what needs to be done. The walk from the bus stop is a bit long in the heat.
